So What is ADHD?

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD), are conditions that affect the brain, the development of nerves in particular, which is why it has been referred to as a Neurological Developmental Disorder. It affects people’s actions as well as their thinking processes and behaviours. Those suffering with ADHD usually have problems focusing and remembering what is said and happening in and around their immediate surroundings.

Children with ADHD struggle especially to remain still in situations that require concentration; classroom environments being a prime example.

People and especially children with ADHD often have trouble making and keeping friends. They are also known to struggle with their own anger and frustrations.

While children with ADHD often have trouble focusing on more tedious tasks like school work, many will not have issues paying attention to something they enjoy and think is interesting.

Managing ADHD

There is no “cure,” for ADHD, however the symptoms of the condition can be managed quite successfully. Capulum College work in conjunction with specialised doctors, nutritional therapists and psychologists who specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to develop Individual Educational Programmes, (IEP's), to help each individual meet their own personal potential and goals.
