Training and experience are required because, for example, learners with <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/adhd\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20350889\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kidshealth.org\/en\/kids\/autism.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">autism,<\/a> <\/strong><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/kidshealth.org\/en\/parents\/anxiety-disorders.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>anxiety<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and other learning problems don\u2019t have the focus required to watch an online video and will often not keep up with what is being taught. \u201cDuring Covid-19 lockdown we sent home online learning material that parents sent back, either incomplete or partially completed, and sometimes incorrect,\u201d reported a special-needs teacher. \u201cSerious time commitment and skills are required to keep going.\u201d<\/p><p>Most special-need learners find it difficult to study alone. They need the face-to-face contact with a teacher and other students in a classroom setting. For them, the traditional classroom setting is an effective way to gain knowledge and skills because it combines different ways of learning including writing, reading, discussion, presentations, projects, group work, film clips, demonstration and practice.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1310\" src=\"https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/capulum-college-home-schooling_3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Home schooling for learners with educational needs\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/capulum-college-home-schooling_3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/capulum-college-home-schooling_3.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Some of the advantages of classroom learning include:<\/p><ul><li>less distraction than at home<\/li><li>a greater understanding of stories, and real-world examples from teachers and other learners<\/li><li>the opportunity to connect with, problem-solve, and network with learners from a range of backgrounds.<\/li><\/ul><p>Written testimonials are useful tools when making choices \u2013 and your child\u2019s future may depend on that choice. He enrolled at Capulum College and has matriculated. With hard work and self-motivation, which Jenni and the teachers instilled in him with patience and skill, he achieved.
