It\u2019s seldom that learners are given the opportunity to cook for their teachers. At Capulum College, however, the children are encouraged to explore various avenues of creativity and the school\u2019s Teachers\u2019 Lunch proved to be a successful and worthwhile event.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cIt was very exciting and a special day because we as the STEP Class normally only cook for ourselves but this time we were allowed to cook for the teachers,\u201d explains Gift. \u201cFrom my perspective, I think it was a big day for our class,\u201d he adds. \u201cThe teachers said our spaghetti bolognaise and salad was very tasty – so that made us proud. This means our cooking has improved because even the teachers were happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Musa admitted that \u201cthe lunch was a bit of a challenge to prepare because we had not cooked for the teachers before.\u201d Receiving positive energy, however, brought relief.<\/p>\n

 Yolan and Philasande were responsible for the spaghetti bolognaise; Sthembiso, Musa and Gift made the salad; and it was Nonofo with Brittaney who presented their chocolate milk dessert.<\/p>\n

\"\"Philasande reports having been involved with the task of chopping the veggies for the bolognaise. The green salad, Nonofo added, was picked from the school\u2019s vegetable garden and it \u201clooked delicious\u201d. He and Brittaney couldn\u2019t resist \u201clicking the bowl after we had finished making the pudding\u201d.<\/p>\n

Apart from her prowess at making dessert, Brittaney also helped serve the pasta. \u201cI feel proud of myself after having made a lunch that my class and the teachers enjoyed,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Yolan said it was \u201ca very good day\u201d. He then added that \u201cit has been an awesome week\u201d. He reports having enjoyed making the lunch for the teachers especially as the teachers said, \u201cit was very good\u201d. This made him happy.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfterwards we cleaned up and packed everything away in their correct places,\u201d concluded Sthembiso.<\/p>\n

And the teachers\u2026 What did they say?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe STEP Class Teachers\u2019 Lunch was well-received by four of our teachers,\u201d says Adam, who explained that the school\u2019s vegetable garden was attended by the learners, and that the green salad from that garden was \u201cfresh and crispy\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"\"Grant noted that the table setting was attractive, the \u2018home-grown\u2019 salad was delicious, and the bolognaise sauce was well seasoned and tasty.<\/p>\n

Lloyd appreciated the service offered by these up-and-coming master chefs. \u201cI highly recommend that everyone tries their dishes,\u201d he advises.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were interesting flavours of herbs and spices in the bolognaise which was moist without being runny,\u201d shares Nick, adding that because of another engagement he had to miss dessert which, \u201cjudging from Brittaney\u2019s quick offer to eat mine, told me it must have been decadent and delicious\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a real treat to be able to enjoy a cooked meal, prepared by the STEP class,\u201d says Ryan. \u201cThe food was delicious, and the service, as well as the presentation, were impressive. Thank you STEP Class for a very pleasant experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

And why cooking?<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an important life skill,\u201d explains Jenni, the owner and founder of Capulum College. \u201cCooking presents the opportunity to explore one\u2019s creativity while giving and receiving positive energy. It creates time for socialising with family and friends, and for making memories that will be cherished for the rest of one\u2019s life.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
