What is a neurodevelopmental disorder, you may ask? It is a condition that affects how a person\u2019s brain functions and is often the cause of learning difficulties.<\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/ADHD_restless-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"adhd\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/ADHD_restless-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/ADHD_restless.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>People with ADHD can seem restless, impulsive and have problems concentrating because certain areas of the brain that allow us to solve problems, plan ahead, understand others&#8217; actions, and control our impulses, are affected.<\/p><p>Research tells us there are seven types of ADHD and each needs a specific treatment. When treated properly the results are good.<\/p><p>These types include:<\/p><ul><li>Classic \u2013 children are inattentive, hyperactive, disorganised, impulsive, and can be distracted.<\/li><li>Inattentive \u2013 children have a short attention span, are disorganised, easily distracted, and they dilly-dally, they may daydream and be shy \u2013 girls are, generally, more affected than boys.<\/li><li>Over-focused \u2013 children have the same symptoms as \u2018Classic\u2019, have trouble shifting attention from one thought to another or from one task to another, and get stuck in negative thought patterns or behaviour.<\/li><li>Temporal lobe &#8211; children have the same symptoms as \u2018Classic\u2019, and have learning, memory, and behavioural problems (quick anger, aggression, and mild fear).<\/li><li>Limbic &#8211; children have the same symptoms as \u2018Classic\u2019, as well as low-level sadness (not depression), moodiness, low energy, feelings of helplessness or guilt, and low self-esteem.<\/li><li>Ring of Fire \u2013 children are sensitive to noise, light, touch; they can have mean, nasty and unpredictable behaviour; speak fast; are anxious and fearful.<\/li><li>Anxious &#8211; children have the same symptoms as \u2018Classic\u2019 as well as being anxious and tense, have stress symptoms such as headaches and stomach aches, think the worst, have a fear of being judged.<\/li><\/ul><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1997\" src=\"https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/ADHD_Discipline-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/ADHD_Discipline-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/ADHD_Discipline.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>These symptoms can cause problems in a child&#8217;s life.
