Their wish is that society would view the cognitive parameters of the condition differently because the mental function that causes dyslexia grants special powers that enhance the individual.<\/p>\n<p>The advantages of dyslexia \u2013 the new superpower &#8211; include;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>creativity \u2013 the majority of people with dyslexia are very artistic,<\/li>\n<li>spatial awareness \u2013 they have the ability to manipulate 3D shapes in their minds &#8211;<\/li>\n<li>and excellent thinking skills in the areas of conceptualisation, reason, imagination, and abstraction,<\/li>\n<li>those with dyslexia can utilise the brain\u2019s ability to alter and create perceptions,<\/li>\n<li>they are problem solvers,<\/li>\n<li>they are highly aware of the environment,<\/li>\n<li>they are more curious than the average person,<\/li>\n<li>they think mainly in pictures instead of words,<\/li>\n<li>they are intuitive and insightful,<\/li>\n<li>they think and perceive multi-dimensionally (using all the senses),<\/li>\n<li>they can experience thought as reality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If not suppressed, invalidated or destroyed by parents or the educational process, these characteristics will result in higher-than-normal intelligence and extraordinary, creative abilities.<\/p>\n<p>The power to think \u2018outside the box\u2019 and come up with unorthodox, fresh, logical reasoning makes dyslexics good at jobs that involve using spatial techniques and problem-solving skills. These include mechanical engineering, fashion styling, creative design, performing arts \u2013 the list is endless.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2765\" src=\"https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/dyslexia_child-scientist-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/dyslexia_child-scientist-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.capulumcollege.com\/dev2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/dyslexia_child-scientist.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Too often dyslexia is associated with reading, writing, spelling, and maths problems, or with \u2018slow learners\u2019. A guest on a TV show was asked about the \u2018positive\u2019 side of dyslexia. As part of the answer, the guest listed a dozen or so famous dyslexics. The show host then commented, \u201cIsn\u2019t it amazing that all those people could be geniuses in spite of having dyslexia.\u201d The guest pointed out that their genius didn\u2019t occur in spite of their dyslexia, but because of it\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Having dyslexia won\u2019t make every dyslexic a genius, but all dyslexics should know their minds work in the same way as the minds of great geniuses. It is also important to know that having a problem with reading, writing, spelling, or math doesn\u2019t mean the dyslexic person is stupid.<\/p>\n<p>We at Capulum College have nurtured &#8211; extensively and successfully &#8211; children who have dyslexia.
