It\u2019s important that these actions should be reflected in everyday conduct \u2013 the way we speak, listen, include, and support. It\u2019s about understanding, acceptance, and fair treatment \u2013 and not about pity or charity.<\/p><p>The following points are for your consideration:<\/p><ul><li>Be a good listener. Although the communication may take a long time, do not interrupt, try to finish your child\u2019s sentence, or assume you know what he\/she means.<\/li><li>Recognise that your child may have a different point of view from yours.<\/li><li>Express your needs and wants in a direct, calm and respectful way.<\/li><li>Respond to your child in a timely manner.<\/li><li>Acknowledge when your child does something well.<\/li><li>Let your child know how much you appreciate him\/her.<\/li><li>Inclusion is about meaningful involvement and a sense of belonging \u2013 it\u2019s not only about physical presence.<\/li><li>Understanding different types of disabilities or challenges can reduce misconceptions and foster empathy.<\/li><\/ul><p>Never define children with special needs by their condition. Avoid labels and assumptions because these children have unique personalities, preferences, talents, and \u2013 as with all of us &#8211; challenges. For example, say \u2018a child with autism\u2019 rather than \u2018an autistic child\u2019. This emphasises the child before the condition. Also, speak directly to the child, not about him\/her, and avoid talking down or using overly simplistic language unless it is necessary for clarity.<\/p><p>Respect also means offering help appropriately. Do not assume assistance is needed. Ask first. \u2018Would you like help?\u2019 allows the person to maintain independence and control. If help is accepted, follow the person\u2019s guidance rather than imposing your own way of doing things.<\/p><p>Be a warrior against discrimination or insensitive behaviour. Respect involves encouraging fairness, and challenging attitudes that exclude or humiliate others.<\/p><p><strong>Treat people exactly as you would like to be<br \/>treated by them &#8211; The Golden Rule<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section
